California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA):
Cal/OSHA is the California state program responsible for protecting the health and safety of workers. Cal/OSHA is housed in the Department of Industrial Relations. Almost all workers in California are protected by Cal/OSHA work standards. However, one of the exceptions is independent contractors, who are not covered because they are considered self-employed.

Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE)/CA Labor Commissioner’s Office:
The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through enforcement of labor laws. By combating wage theft, protecting workers from retaliation, and educating the public, they put earned wages into workers' pockets and help level the playing field for law-abiding employers.
This office is also known as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) and is housed in the Department of Industrial Relations. For any wage theft issues or break period violations, you can file a wage claim with this department.
Common examples of wage theft include: not paying at least minimum wage, not paying overtime wages, taking illegal deductions, etc.

Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC):
Workers’ Compensation is a government-mandated program that provides benefits to workers who become injured or ill on the job or as a result of the job.
The DWC monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims and provides administrative and judicial services to assist in resolving disputes that arise in connection with claims for workers' compensation benefits.
The DWC is housed in the Department of Industrial Relations.

California Employment Development Department (EDD):
The EDD administers unemployment benefits, paid family leave, and disability insurance. Please note that the Paid Family Leave program is administered by the California Employment Development Department (EDD), not by your employer.

Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH)
The DFEH is responsible for enforcing state laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or employee because of protected criteria.

The CDC has up-to-date health information for the American people regarding safety measures to take during a pandemic, US-based food outbreaks, and much more.

The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information

The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL)
This DOL Division helps you determine if you are being misclassified as an independent contractor when you should be an employee.

One Fair Wage (OFW):
OFW is a national coalition, campaign, and organization seeking to lift millions of tipped and subminimum wage workers out of poverty across the nation and engage them in the political process that governs their lives.
The One Fair Wage campaign and coalition include all workers for whom tips are considered wage replacement – including restaurant workers, nail salon technicians, car wash workers, tech platform delivery workers and drivers, hairdressers, massage therapists, disabled, incarcerated, teenage workers, and many more.
